Dentelle Illimitée was started in 2001 as a project to make lace for a dining room. The lace would include a table runner, table cloth placemats, headboard and draperies. The lace will be donated to a museum.
Fourteen lace makers (Lilianne Bélanger, Marie Berthiaume, Denise Cordeau, Suzanne Desjardins, Monique Dufort, Judith Dufresne, Isabelle Fourez, Anne Genest,Yolande Graveline, Johanne Grenier, Odette Lannoy, Sylvie Légaré, Marie-Paule Moulin and Beverley Walker), all under the supervision of Suzanne Gagnon, worked on the project. Part of the experience was to duplicate a lacemakers' workshop of the 18-19 century. Suzanne was the head lacemaker, she created the pattern, pricking, distributed the workload, materials, and watched over quality control - she was very strict. A tablecloth and lace for French doors still need to be made.
This is the second project for the group. The first project was a panel to commemorate the death of Descartes (a French philosopher). Their third project will be a shawl in blondes de Caen.
