CONVENTIONS

  • CONVENTION 2008
The Land of Lincoln Lacemakers will be the hosts in Northern Illinois. Dates are August 3rd through August 8th, 2008 at the Clocktower Resort in Rockford, Illinois. For more information CLICK HERE

Information about the 2008 Lace contest is HERE

There was a huge error in the Bulletin information regarding the Rockford
Clocktower Resort hotel. The negotiated cost of a room is $123/night for up
to four people, not $135 as printed in the Bulletin. We hope that helps
people with their financial planning for convention.

Also, the Wire Bobbin Lace classes with Susan Lambiris should have included a
kit fee as follows: Material kit will be $7.50. Susan will have more
expensive focal beads available which would increase the cost of the kit to a
maximum of $25 depending on pattern chosen. Payment to teacher at convention.

LACE COMPETITION

  • 2008 I.O.L.I. Lace Contest:

The theme of the convention will be "Floral Fantasy"
and the contest theme will be

    "Immortal Blossoms"

A beautiful blossom is a fleeting thing, it stays for a moment and then takes wing. . . Immortalize that fleeting blossom in lace. The contest entries must include a flower, part of a flower, or a leaf. The entries can be 2-D or 3-D. The maximum size including the frame/mounting and/or props is 15" X 15" for the 2-D and 15" X 15" X 15" for the 3-D entries. No entry is to be covered in any way by glass, film, or any type of plastic (Plexiglas). Use the appropriate size thread and color of thread to enhance your design.

    Categories for submission:

    • Original Lace Design: The entry must be designed and worked by the entrant. A copy of the original pattern and working directions must be submitted with the entry.

    • Technical Proficiency: The entry must be worked completely by the entrant, but another lace designer's pattern may be used. Information acknowledging the designer and source of the pattern must be provided with the entry.

Only the Bulletin Editor or I.O.L. I. Designated photographer will photograph the lace pieces.

Request a complete list of rules and an entry form from: Anne Moore, 5729 East Orchard Road, Mooresville IN 46158-6307 or lacyanne@iquest.net

Postmark deadline for submitting lace entries is July 1st, 2008
