    Competition: Butterfly

    This competition is part of our bobbin lace event on November 13th 201 The competition is open to all lace makers and/or lace designers. You can submit up to three pieces of lace. There are six equal prizes: each consisting of a voucher worth €80 donated by a trader.

    Self designed and worked pieces of lace qualify for any one of the prizes. If you have worked someone else's design you may win prizes C - F. There are no limitations set. Framing in whatever way is permitted. Additionally, a combination with other crafts is allowed. The theme may be worked as abstract. It may be a subject of a different motif. Any submitted three dimensional pieces that exceed 20 x 20 x 20 cm will not fit into our showcase. Nevertheless we will take care to display it as safely as possible. The organizers are the judges. The prize-winners will be selected anonymously.

    Your participation is free of charg

    We are planning to print off a set of postcards of the most beautiful butterflies. Therefore we need your written permission to do this. If you have not designed the lace yourself, it will be our task to acquire the designer's permission. In any event, your permission is necessary.

    This is how you should submit your entry to the competition:

    1. Fasten a ticket to every piece of lace with a four digit pin-code of your own choice plus the letter A for self-designed or B for simply worked by you.

      1. A submission letter stating:

        1. o the pin-code

        2. o the origin of the design

        3. o your name and address

        4. o State: I am/I am not in agreement with the printing off of my submitted piece of lace

        5. o your signature

        6. o If we need to post your piece back to you, please add any further details here and check postage with Ulrike in person or via email.

        7. o last but not least: please add a photocopy, a photograph or a drawing marked: up/down, front/back to guarantee the correct presentation of your work

    3. For your convenience Ulrike Voelker has agreed to accept your entrees in Portland USA at the IOLI 2010. Alternatively, please send the lace, securely packed, together with the submission letter between June 1st 2010 and not later than August 1st 2010 (date of posting) to: Erika Vanselow, Nettelbeckstr. 15, D42653 Solingen, Germany
